The Hutchins School

The Hutchins School is located about five kilometres from the CBD of Hobart, Tasmanias capital city, and twenty minutes from the Hobart airport.

The main campus lies on the slopes of Mount Nelson, overlooking the picturesque Derwent River. Its facilities are extensive and include modern classrooms, science and computer laboratories, three libraries, a performing arts centre, a chapel and the student residence.

Hutchins has two turf cricket wickets, four playing fields, a well-equipped gymnasium, a weights training room, a static rowing tank, and six tennis courts. The Schools sail training boat Aurora is used for outdoor programs on the Derwent River, which also forms the backdrop for rowing events.

Hutchins is a founder-member of the International Coalition of Boys Schools and is a member of the Association of Independent Schools of Tasmania. The Headmaster is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia.

Hutchins, an Anglican day and boarding school for boys, is one of Australias oldest and most distinguished schools. Hutchins was established in 1846 and has a commitment to excellence and a progressive and forward-looking curriculum.
