SteamFest Tasmania 2019
SteamFest is Tasmanias premier country festival, and the largest display of working steam in Australia, held every long weekend in March in Sheffield the Town of Murals.
The Sheffield SteamFest is the Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Societys annual festival, held each year on the March long weekend.
The weekend features extensive displays of vintage machinery, train rides, traction engines, steam rollers, vintage cars, farm tractors, tractor pulling competitions, demonstrations of farm practices from the steam era - e.g. sheep shearing,threshing, stone crushing etc.- stationary engines, craft displays, bands, entertainment and food stalls.
Over the years thousands of people have attended SteamFest, including vistors from overseas here on holiday. Many return, sometimes with their own children in tow, and discover an evergrowing assortment of working machinery, an expanding entertainment programme, and a growing support base that sees more and more food businesses booking to be part of what is undoubtedly Tasmanias premier country fair.
